Thanks to Zayde: At the KROQ Weenie Roast the upcoming Saturday, they played a shorter set due to time constraints. But it is plenty safe to say that they made the most of the 45 minutes given. They stole the show. We were upset that Velvet Revolver didn't headline because they were by far the best band there. The crowd was captivated. Everyone loved what was being played, starting off with "Sucker Than Blues" followed by "Do It For The Kids," but when Scott, his eyes glaring, the anger ready to spill out, muttered those words: "Here I come, I come, I come, I come," the entire crowd went nuts. "Sex Type Thing" was the highlight of the night. They closed out their set with "Slither," a brilliant array of music playing at its finest.

People started calling me a Velvet Revolver groupie, because we were debating going to Denver. By this time, every word on "Contraband" was engraved in my head. It was decided, Denver, here we come.

Thanks to T-Man: Seems like another captivating performance but the men in Velvet Revolver. It's hard not to take your eyes off Scott b/c he's all over the place and that is why I guess he's labeled one of the best frontmen around. Concert was incredible the only drawback I had was the monitors pissed Scott off and the echo on vocals such as during the stream you could hear the songs next line being sung without watching him singing it until a few seconds later but other than that they fuckin rocked. Can't wait till they kick my ass in Houston 6-18-04!

Thanks to Rob: I was one of the poor saps watching in 300k and got cut off during 'Sex Type Thing'. I have to say, the energy of this band is off the charts, but there seemed to be something wrong with Slash's guitar, don't know what the deal was but it sounded weak for the first couple of songs and someone should keep Slash away from the Floyd Rose when he's been boozing cause his solo on 'Sucker Train Blues' blew lol. I've been listening to Slash since '87 and he is better than that. The performance wasn't that good in the begining, it picked up during 'Big Machine', but I never saw them perform from start to finish so maybe they always start off lousy before warming up, I know GnR sucked when they got on stage cold and took a few songs to warm up and like I said there seemed to be technical problems which could have been a major contributor to the lousy start. 'Fall To Pieces' is far better live than on the cd, not crazy about the studio version, sounds too much like a cheesey 80's power ballad, the live version has balls.

Thanks to Monn Monroe: I love the chemistry that the band has. I wasn't actually there in the gig but I saw it through the internet. I've been listening to the record for a while so I know 98% of the songs by now. I'm a huge fan of GN'R and I think that the concert and the band needed and needs a good live singer not just performer. I don't know if it was because of his sickness but Scott doesn't sing like a pro. He sounds more like a begginer. I was actually expecting more from him. Yes, the band is great. Just seeing Duff at the beggining of Sucker Train Blues along with Dave was fucking cool and not to mention when the whole song exploded. Fucking insane. The only thing missing to make the concert perfect in a rock and roll way was the vocals. I noticed that Scott was asking for something to the tech guys but his voice was so damn bad. I couldn't hear parts of songs and even though the lyrics are really awesome he doesn't perform them that good. I think he's not the perfect guy for the band if he needs tools to make his voice sound louder and better. I'm going to see them in Denver, Co. So I'll let you know if he is worth seeing or not. Honestly most shows are sold out 'cause people are expecting more but if he continues singing like that then I think is not worth it. At least you get to see the band playing super fucking good, that's for sure. And Slash sounded to retro and old when he said, "we have a record, well I think properly said it's we have a CD out". So the set was well delivered and the band cool as always the only thing not good, Scott. Sorry for my honesty...

Thanks to JDB: I'll be honest. I thought the energy was amazing after the poor prententious performance from The Hives, but something was definitely lacking. Slash seemed to be off his mark the whole night and I thought that their orginal material lacked substance. Granted they were played very loud and very energetically that doesn't mean success 100% of the time. The hooks and melodies weren't there, they just seemed to lackadasically drift with no peaks or melodies to catch on to. I really wanted to like the show and while some off it was great it was an overall let down.

Thanks to TD: I have just witnessed a revival (I hope) in guitar rock. I missed out in seeing Velvet Revolver in Boston but I was lucky enough to catch the KROQ Weenie Roast. Holy Shit - I had expectations but this is incredible. The energy is awesome. Hearing the CD you can feel the music and know it would translate great on stage but to this extent, wow. New and upcoming bands must see them live to see how it should be done. No posing nothing fake (The Hives right before them come to mind) just honest rock and roll, tickle the soul and you have the fan and I'm hooked. Poor Ole Axl Scotty sings your songs better hahaha. It's "not" that easy. They have caught lighting in a bottle. The only thing I'm upset about it is that I want more songs. This is what rock is about and needs ... no loops no samples no lyrics about parents just life as we know it, fast furious and full of land mines. The lyrics are awesome and so honest that it is almost therapy. 'Fall To Pieces' is or will be one of the greatest rock "ballads" and I hate using that word but live .. it just grew wings and went to another level. Best of luck .. Gods speed and keep an eye on each other. This is gonna be freaking huge.
