Thanks to Supersonic: Finally, I would be seeing Velvet Revolver live. They didn't play any club show near us and me and my friend decided to go the the Pukkelpop Festival, only for Velvet Revolver. When we arrived at 8:30 when Papa Roach was just finishing their set made me realise how much I was looking forward to some real rock & roll music. It's a shame that all those teeny boppers do not realise what great rock & roll is. All those 16 year old kids shouting lyrics like "cut my life into pieces" etcetera looked plain stupid, and the lead singer of Papa Roach looked so enthusiastic and proud of his music, that I almost felt sorry for him. As you might've noticed, I'm not a big fan of their music. The same power chords and silly raps made all their songs sound the same, and I was happy when they finally really finished their set.

Papa Roach's lead singer asked the crowd if they were "fucking ready for fucking Velvet Revolver", and after the all the kids yelled a lame yes, I was glad they all left the field after Papa Roach it's set finished, so we were able to walk to the front. We were standing at Duff's spot, and happy we were. The excitement grow, we looked behind us and didn't see that many people which surprised us but as soon as the screaming voice raise out of the speakers yelling "From Hollywood…" people came walking to the stage, reliasing something was going to happen. Matt entered the stage first, the rest of the band followed quickly and Duff started playing the intro of Sucker Train Blues at the centre of the stage. Scott walked on stage, and yes, the show had started. As soon as the guitars had kicked in we knew the waiting and anticipation for them to come to Europe had been worth it. They really blew me away. This really is a very good band and they really do play rock & roll. Before Velvet Revolver had released anything I had been wondering if we'd miss the always happy Axl Rose. But no, this band could easily do it without him. The bombastic guitar solo's during Set Me Free were amazing, It's So Easy is good without Axl, Scott manages to do it himself very well and it's nothing like a GnR karaoke performance. I doubt it if Axl manages to do the same with his new lined up GnR.

The only sad thing about it, was that it ended way too soon. Only 45 minutes, in which it looked they really gave everything, was too short. After their powerful performance of Slither they suddenly said goodbye, and gone they were. A few days later we heard on 3FM, a Dutch radio station, that Scott had gotten a raspy voice because of all the shows he had been doing. This might've been the reason for the short show. But after all, this was the only thing that disappointed me a little. For the rest, I truly had a great time. I really hope this band will make it big time, they deserve it, they're the most convincing band I've heard and seen in the past few years.

Thanks to Rudy van Daele: When I saw the first list of Pukkelpop I thought no but when Velvet Revolver was add to that list me and some friends were like yes yes we're going. After months of waiting it was finally there Pukkelpop 2004. They played a very good gig they simply rocked.

Thanks to Shealex: I only really came to Pukkelpop because Velvet Revolver and eventually it is the only thing I remember from the 5day fest... But...they were great, blew me away, made me have a sore throat for the next 3 days. To see Slash and Duff from two meters away was unbelievable, I've been an extreme Guns fan since I was 9 years old. And I was a bit disappointed to have heard 2 STP tracks and only 1 GnR, allthough in my forever top 5 STP is included and it are still my two favourite STP songs, but there's nothing like the Guns feeling and having original Guns members play those songs. And yes, I was one of those five 'losers' shouting Guns'n'Roses, but don't blame me for getting emotional when I see a concert like this. And Velvet Revolver can certainly build a legacy like Guns did, but that's yet to come. Hardrock forever!

Thanks to Sander Evers: These guys rock! Came from Holland to see this show and what a show it was.. Didn't think they would be so great at a live show. Best song was STP's Sex Type Thing which is the greatest band in the world!

Thanks to Maaike: Here's my review of the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium. The show was awesome! Even better than I expected. Well worth the hassle of going camping and all. I was standing in the front row and the guys were right in front of me. They looked great, played they asses off. Compliments to Dave, he's done so well. And my god can Scott sing. I have made pictures but with an ordinary camera, so they have to be developed first. Hope they work out really well. As soon as I have them I'll post them. That's all folks. Velvet Revolver forever!

Thanks to Paul: I only went to the pukkelpopfestival for Velvet Revolver and I don't regret it! What a rock n roll show man! Slash was AMAZING (I stood right in front of him; is there anything better?), Duff looks healthier than ever, Matt was kicking the drums like his used to, Dave was really feeling the music and Scott 'the snake' Weiland moved like he never did before. But was the sound great? No.

During 'Sucker Train Blues' it took about 2 minute to arrange Scott's mic. Slash's solo work was hard to hear because the volume of every instrument was very noisy. But hey: I like it that way! Biggest response from the crowd was when Duff kicked in to 'it's so easy'.

The place went nuts with everybody singing along. Crazy!
After the song about 5 idiots were screaming 'Guns N' Roses'. We all love Guns but when you scream like that you're showing no respect to the Revolver. They stopped after they noticed no one was following their screams. Losers.

What a pity it was to see that the crowd was very small.
All the youngsters don't give a f for this rock n roll and waited outside the festival or somewhere else for the band after Revolver wich was motherf-ing The Offspring. I responded with going home after Revolver. And what do you think about security guards begging for the setlist and Slash's guitar picks to put in their own pockets? That's not their job is it?

The set was a little too short, but they were defintely rocking tha house! See you later alli-fucking-gator!

Thanks to Koen: Yesterday I went to Pukkelpop, just for one reason... Velvet Revolver!!! Thanks for showing what rock'n'roll is all about guys! A show full of energy and an excellent play. Slash, you rule, and so does the rest of the band. Keep on going this way... RESPECT!

Thanks to Mark: Hey fellow Velvet Revolver enthusiasts, yesterday was a great day in rainy Belgium as I got to meet all the guys in their hotel in Brussels before the show at Pukkelpop. They were all super cool and Slash chuckled when I told him Axl played the same festival 2 years ago with his makeshift GNR. Duff and Scott were with their wives and kids and Duff's daughters had a jam on the Hotel bar piano (Duff's wife is extremely beautiful...way to go Duff).
As for the show, it rocked. Although Slash is less dynamic than in the Guns days he remains a guitar god on stage. Scott is an excellent and charismatic frontman although I expected more interaction with the crowd from him and Slash.

Great moments were the guitar solo duel between Slash n Dave during 'Set me Free', 'Slither' and of course the old GNR and STP staples 'It's So Easy', 'Sex Type Thing' and 'Crackerman'. The Velvet Revolver material sounds great live although Scott's vox were a little low in the mix for my liking.

Definitely a must see...I will try to make it to Paris in September.

Thanks to Yuri: I'm just back from Pukkelpop and Velvet Revolver was amazing. Great show, full of energy. Everyone played their hearts out. It was great to see how they lengthend "Set Me Free". Credits go to Dave, who's far more then just a member of Velvet Revolver. Thumbs up. Scott was one hell of a frontman tonight, while Duff and Slash did their utmost to please their fans. Scott's convinced me that he's the right singer for Velvet Revolver. The whole 50 mins were pure magic. THX guys.
