Thanks to Joaquin Soler: The show rocked! It's amazing that these same guys gave a concert the previous day in Barcelona, cause they gave it their all. If only all bands put so much passion into their gigs as these guys! Scott was absolutely wild, Slash was at his usual best and Duff enjoys his re-found stardom. Dave showed what a great talent he is and Mr. Sorum drummed like a maniac. The highlight of the show? Everything. 10/10

Thanks to Unai: I know it's been a while since the show, but here's my two cents anyway. I drove 4 hours to get to Madrid after work with my girlfriend, picked up my sister in Madrid and hurried to the concert. Too bad I missed Velvet Revolver when they were signing CDs at a store in Madrid.

As far as the Backyard Babies were concerned, it was clear to me that their guitarist was their main attraction. They were o.k. and they really tried to get the crowd going. I saw their performance from the bar, as I hadn't gone to Madrid to see them and after such a long drive, I needed a beer. When the BB were done, I made my way to about the 10th row and waited for Velvet Revolver to come onstage. A guy brought Slash's top hat to the stage and left it on the amplifiers.... everyone who noticed this cheered, as people couldn't wait to see Velvet Revolver. When they finally came out, I took advantage of the crowd waves to move all the way to the second row... by the end of"Sucker Train Blues" I was in the first row right in the middle of the stage, in front of Scott. So I had a pretty good view of the show ;-). The first thing that Scott said reminded me of the Quireboys. He said something like "We're Velvet Revolver and this is rock 'n' roll". Spike of the Quireboys always says that before every show. Scott's voice should have been louder, but on the whole it was a very good concert. I don't know why, but he left the stage in the middle of "Crackerman" and didn't come back until the following song. Slash seemed like he didn't know what the fuck was going on. Scott touched his throat a few times, so I guess he must have been having trouble with his vocal chords. I got a piece of towel from Scott (I had to fight another guy over it, and in the end we decided to divide it in two and each of us got a piece of it) Slash pleased everyone by smoking cigarettes, wearing his hat, showing us his tattoos and, most of all, playing amazing guitar riffs and solos. He did some cool dancing on some songs, too and it seemed that Dave and he were improvising in a song, I think it was "Set Me Free". Some hysterical girls kept calling Slash all the time. When he noticed this, the girls sent him kisses, to which Slash responded by shaking his head and making a gesture with his hand which could be interpreted as "what the fuck are these stupid groupies doing here?" That was really funny. These same girls asked a security guy to get them a cigarette butt Scott had thrown on the floor -how fucking stupid can you get? Duff chewed gum all the time, which I take it to mean that he quit smoking. He was wearing the same Sid Vicious t-shirt as on the "Fall To Pieces" video. His presence was amazing, being as tall as he is. Dave was a very pleasant surprise. He really knows what he's doing, and he was very relaxed the whole time. He was just as confident as the rest of the members in the band. I once saw a video interview with Duff in the GNR era in which he described Matt as a pro. Well, that's exactly what he is. He didn't miss a beat. He was the nicest of them all in between encores and after the show was finished. He talked to the audience, and he went around throwing drum sticks. Again, I was lucky to get one of those drum sticks. Too bad I didn't get any guitar or bass picks (the guy next to me got one from Duff and one from Dave).

Even now, I can't stop thinking about the show. I can't wait to see Velvet Revolver again, even if that means I have to drive for 10 hours to see them. The only low point about the concert was that it was too short.

Thanks to Carlos: Yesterday I saw a super concert in Madrid....I must say one of the bests I've ever seen (I have seen hundreds). I had great expectations about Velvet Revolver. For me, Contraband is the rock album of the year. That`s why I made 350 km. to see the band live! Well, the concert was incredible. Slash is a great guitar player, really great. He is very good live. Well I was vey happy to be there. Sorry that Izzy was not there, but it doesn't matter, these five men were abosolutely incredible. I hope they come back soon to Spain and they release more albums..please !!

Thanks to Pedro: It was kind of a mixed emotioned gig last friday night. It was a good show indeed and of course, it was worth paying that amount of money to see Slash in his top hat. However, the sound was pretty crappy most of the time which I´m sure is not the band´d fault anyway...you couldn´t tell much about what Slash was playing and you had to imagine along the solos. That was a shame. So was Duff´s and Dave´s sound. Scott turned out to be an awesome frontman.
I´d like to highlight an incident that took place as about 50 fans stood out waiting to meet the band after the show...Scott, Matt, Duff and Dave came out heading to their van but there was no driver available so they had to wait for a long while out in the street to leave the place. That was a pretty tense wait and I´m sure they felt really stupid waiting, just leaning on the van. I think most of the fans felt the Velvet Revolvers were like scared or something! They would do little signing, no pics, and denied shaking hands with fans.

That was pretty disappointing for people I guess. The Backyard Babies were there taking pics with fans meeting people they were very cool and did an outstanding show as well. As I left the place Slash hadn´t show up, probably waiting for things to calm down a bit (?). Cheers!

Thanks to Hugo: It was great. They played in mid-sized club called "La Riviera". Velvet Revolver started at 9:40 P.M, with Sucker Train Blues. The crow song all the songs, getting nuts seeing Scott moving all over the stage, and seeing Slash solos.

Thanks to Juanjo: P O W E R F U L Anything I expected was there. An incredibly energetic huge stage presence (all of them) soulful playing, fun having band.

Slash puts his soul in every single note, Duff stomps over your head and keeps the audience excited, Dave is surprising, creative and solid as a rock, and Matt is kind of a locomotive and man, Scott is the boss. Scott kicked ass as always and though he looked a little bit tired due to all that it's happenning to him, never slows down and gives everything he's got. Man, that's a frontman. A guy who's going through all that shit and gives this much on stage deserves a place among the greatests.

Loved when Dave started to harmonize with Slash in the middle of a solo, which looked like a fresh impovisation, by the smile on their faces. The guy didn't stop moving from the beggining to the end, except for when he sat down for "Used to love her". Velvet Revolver rules.

Thanks to Leo: I agree with the previous reviewer, the show was excellent!!! The only thing that brought me down a bit was Izzy's absence... he went to Paris and Barcelona... why not Madrid!!! Oh, well...

Thanks to Juan: In Madrid the band had a very good night! A perfect show! The set list was the same than in Barcelona but Izzy Stradlin didn't appear. The audience was shocked with the final of "Set Me Free" where each member of the band gave his best and with "It's so easy" (where the club seemed to get down).

The STP songs sounded good but were eclipsed by the Guns and Roses and Velvet Revolver themes. The band shown a real stadium rock show attitude and Weiland became a rock and roll god during the 80 minutes of the show, I dare to say that he enjoys the Velvet Revolver material more than the songs from the old band.

The audience went crazy with every Velvet Revolver tune, the could have played the full "Contraband" album and the reponse from the crowd could not been better! Velvet Revolver rules man!
