Additional Info: Velvet Revolver performed at the Roseland Ballroom in New York, NY on September 18 for the 'Rock Through Time' event, which is the grand finale to Miller's celebration of Rolling Stone's 50 Years of Rock and Roll summer. Other artists included James Brown, Doors 21st Century, Lenny Kravitz, The Strokes and Ben Folds. No tickets were sold for the event: Miller gave away nearly 1,000 event tickets, along with air and hotel to New York City, to lucky music fans 21 and over across the country.

Slash performed with James Brown and Lenny Kravitz on Friday September 17 and Velvet Revolver played a full set on Saturday the 18th. Julian Casablancas and guitarist Nick Valensi were guests for 'I Wanna Be Sedated'. Robin Zander and guitarist Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick were guests for 'Surrender'.

Thanks to CT: I had been drooling to see Velvet Revolver since reading reviews at this site all summer and when I saw this was a private show I was bummed. But no, by some chance of destiny I inherited some tickets from some Miller honcho the morning of the show. Drove 60 miles on i95 with less than a quarter tank of gas and found a parking space in the city 1 block from the show! I was meant to see this band play and I was not disappointed. All the bands and Ben Folds were great, but the crowd was buzzing to see these true professionals (Axl who?). They rocked loud and hard from the start of Sucker Train Blues to the insane encore of Surrender with Rick and Robin of Cheap Trick. Slash was tremendous and nears the status of living legend. Scott Weiland commands the stage like no one since Morrison. The only thing that can keep this band down is all the bandwagon Gn'R fans with their closed minds stuck in the 80's. Like a rock n roll phoenix these guys are reborn stronger, fresher and better. It was my extreme honor to bear witness to such greatness and I will never stop gloating to anyone who'll listen.

Thanks to Scott: I saw Velvet Revolver at Roseland, my friend's dad works next door and he knows the security guy who got us in. It was a good set, the only GnR song was It's So Easy unfortunatly. The last two songs were great. A tribute to Johnny Ramone with 2 of the strokes as they all played I Wanna Be Sedated. And the final song they were joined by Rick Nielson and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and they played Surrender. The place almost exploded with all that.

Thanks to Top-Hatted One: Wow!!! This show was magical! Velvet Revolver came on last after The Strokes, Cheap Trick, & Alice Cooper. All those bands played a rockin set but the anticipation was huge for Velvet Revolver. The Strokes finished their set and after about a 20-30min break in where the crew member places Slash's top hat over his amp and the crowd roars, out comes Matt Pinfield (NYC DJ) and introduces Velvet Revolver and away we go! Duff stands right over me as I was front & center and kicks off Suckertrain Blues!

The crowd is receptive but not rowdy. There was no pushing and shoving but it was pretty damn good even though it was a show for the people who won the Miller Beer contest were able to get in. I actually managed to stay on my feet this time! Can you believe a Velvet Revolver show without pushing! Anyway a fight broke out during Do It For The Kids on Duff's side as some asshole started pushing this poor guy so that he could get closer and when the guy told him to knock it off this asshole attacks him and next thing you know they are fighting. I was doing my best to focus on the show. Duff was looking at them with a "what the fuck" look on his face. Luckily security pulled the guys out but it lasted a good 5 minutes.

Next comes Headspace which totally rocks the house! Then Big Machine which the crowd loved. Then Crackerman, Fall to pieces which the crowd all knew, It's so easy really got everyone going, Sex Type Thing, Set Me Free, encore, came back and did an incredible version of Slither and then came the big surprises which made it a truly magical night.

Their friends 'The Strokes' came on stage. The singer and guitarist to be exact and they played none other than "I want to be sedated" by the Ramones. The singer handled most of the vocals and did a phenomenal job while Scott did some amazing backround singing..it fit right in and made the song that much better! The Velvet Revolver guys were really having a good time onstage. You could really see how good friends they are with the Strokes. There were tons of photographers trying to get classic shots. The leader singer said something like Velvet Revolver a true Rock n Roll band.

Then all of a sudden out comes the guitarist from Cheap Trick! The best part he brought out a fuckin quintuplet or however you say it(5 guitars in one). Everyone was in awe haha. Then they played the most rocking rendition of" Surrender" imaginable to end the night! And by this time the guys were really having a blast onstage and the audience knew they were witnessing something special. Then surprisingly out comes the singer of Cheap Trick in the middle of the song and joins Scott in singing. Scott was having a blast!

Then after the song was over Scott walked up to his guitar stand and pointed at the quintuplet guitar and cracked up. Then he grabbed it and put it around his neck. It was a real struggle for such a small framed man. I was cracking up! Then he tried to walk with it and it was bringing him to the ground almost haha. All the guys and the crowd had a big laugh. Well that was it! My 4th time seeing Velvet Revolver and it gets better each time!!!
