Thanks to Matt: This was one of the greatest concerts that I have ever seen. Anytime you have GN'R, STP and Velvet Revolver being played you will not be dissapointed. It gets two thumbs way up.

Thanks to Jeremy Trembly: This was my first time seeing Velvet Revolver, insane!!! If you've never seen them, go see them!!! Loved all the songs, especially at first when they came out in black and ripped into Sucker Train Blues!!

Thanks to Motorvatin: I wanted to read a few other reviews of this show before I posted mine. Mostly out of curiousity. I have seen GnR (1988 at the pyramid, total bullshit, Axl is a complete ass deciding not to start playing until around midnight) I have seen STP at Mud Island a few years ago (pretty good show, but not a huge fan), saw Aerosmith just past their prime in 1985 at Musicfest when it was at the fairgrounds, completely awesome. Still waiting to see Hanoi Rocks though (if you recognize this band and my handle, you'll understand the connection of these bands, excluding STP.)
Anyway, was ready for Velvet Revolver. Have been anticipating this show since the St. Louis show earlier in the year. Pissed b/c I chose not to go, but at the time had not heard any of their stuff. A couple of days later got the album and then was really awaiting their arrival. Again, I get pissed b/c already had tix for a Titans game when they were playing in Little Rock and was already locked into a Tigers football game when they were playing in Nashville. So finally I get to see them. The lights went down, and as Brandon stated in an earlier review, the sound sucked. Hard to tell if it were due to the surprising lack of attendance or just the sound in that venue sucked. In addition, several people I talked to felt the mix was low on the vocals as well. The mix got better as the show went on. Their setlist was as anticipated. The show was awesome, despite the sound. Would rather have seen them in the Daisy, now that would have been a total blast. Can't wait to see them again.

Thanks to Jon: I cannot believe the place was not sold out, but that's o.k. It gave us a chance to see Velvet Revolver up close. They were awesome! The setlist they played was perfect. My friends and myself, have been wanting to hear them play "Mr. Brownstone" ever since these guys started touring together and our wish was granted. "Crackerman" was also a crowd pleaser and "Fall to Pieces" is a classic! If you ever get the chance to see them in person..you'd better... no matter what the cost..believe me....it is worth it!! I hope they come to this area again real soon!!!

Love the fact that they played old Aerosmith song. I was 15 when Appetite came out so I missed out on Aerosmiths early heyday. Appetite did two things made me play guitar( still can't play Locomotive though) and made me go back and learn about the older music that influenced it. Velvet Revolver is a real rock, guitar based band. Man have I missed it.

Thanks to Clint Brown: I cannot believe how f***ing awesome this show was!!! Being a huge Guns N' Roses fan as well as a big STP fan, the opportunity to see Velvet Revolver was a dream come true for this 21 year old who never got to see either GNR or STP in their hey-day. Velvet Revolver is the most exciting band I have ever seen live. Scott Weiland "slithered" around the stage like a madman with Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, & Dave Kushner offering nothing less than the greatest performance from any band. Show Highlights: The extended bridge/solo section in "Set Me Free" which amazed me at how awesome of a guitarist Dave really is when he more than held his own next to Slash; the GNR and STP tunes ("Used To Love Her" is the coolest!); and their awesome rendition of Aerosmith's "No More No More" was phenominal!!

If you have doubts about seeing these guys live, trust me it's worth every single penny you have to spent--and that's coming from a college kid who spent $50 and 4 hours in a car to see them! Velvet Revolver is a true return to blood, sweat, and tears rock!!! Rock on Velvet Revolver F***ING Revolver!!!!

Thanks to Brandon Edwards: What can I say ..the band comes out from the gun smoking. My personal favs...were Superhuman, Headspace (love Matt's drum parts on this song)...Set Me Free was off the hook....but I think that the Brownstone, Slither ender was just insane. The boys sounded tight...they looked good and just hit the climaxes of their songs perfect. Much heavier live than I thought they would be....great show.

The were about fifteen to twenty rows back dead center...the sound kind of sucked there(muffled for sure). If you went pretty much dead center near the FOH sound was perfect....great show guys. The energy level in that place fucking rocked....Scott you are the ultimate frontman in showbiz. Ya'll come back soon now. And thanks for bringing balls back to music.

Thanks to Sking: I'm glad the press stopped refering to the Velvet Revolver as a "super group"; super groups rarely last more than a few albums and Velvet Revolver is here for good. Contraband has been in my CD player since it was first released and last night's concert confirmed the band's long-lasting appeal: Scott's voice was in fine form, especially on "Fall to Pieces" and his stage presence--which reminds me of both Iggy Pop and Johnny Rotten--added the necessary abandonment and anarchy to the show's already highly combustive nature. Slash and Dave's guitar styles perfectly complimented each other; while Dave's acted as the band's principle rhythm guitarist (and pedal effects guru), Slash's grinding riffs and incredible solos worked the already receptive audience into a frenzy. And Duff and Matt are simply one of the tighest rhythm units I have ever heard! Although the Civic Center was not sold out, the crowd was loud and most were on their feet throughout the band's +15 songs. Beyond the superb musicianship and the aggressive performance, the band's live show will testify for the need for performers to look the part--these guys looked like rock Gods. Without a doubt, the band has the right combination of chemistry and chrisma to play their own brand of music and attract a larger audience without having to pander to currents fads and capitulate to record company demands. Velvet Revolver: Please come back to the Mid-South. I'm ready for more!
