This is my 3rd time seeing Velvet Revolver and they don't disappoint! They could have played a little longer or played one of their covers but seeing them again was just great. They rocked the shit out of arena; it's just too bad that the crowd sucked. There were a lot of Korn fans, and a lot of people who just came to the show for the sake of going to a show (plus all the fucking idiot "juice-heads").

Krock sucks! And they manage to fuck up some aspect of every one of the concerts they run. A couple of weeks prior to the show they made up some VIP section right in front of the stage splitting the floor front/back - VIP/GA (So if you bought GA during the presale you were fucked). So because of this I had to sneak into VIP to get up to the stage, which wasn't easy but for Velvet Revolver it was well worth it. So all in all, Velvet Revolver was great, Korn was loud and good live, Jimmy Eat World was pretty good too and Franz Ferdand or whatever they're called got booooo'd like crazy the entire time.

Thanks to hanuman: On December 3, 2004, I attended the Clausfest and was disappointed with the performance of Velvet Revolver. The entire set, while loud, was lacking true musical content, save for "Fall To Pieces". Only during this song only did I hear the guitar riffs that Slash is known for. Scott's vocals were as strong as ever, however I felt, as many others did, that the megaphone has to go. By the middle of the set almost half the arena had emptied with complaints toward the music and Scott's prancing around like Mick Jagger or Freddie Mercury of Queen. I can truly hope the band can find their one and true style as I expect great things from this group of talented musicians. Oh, great t-shirts guys.

Thanks to Rich-shockey jersey : This my 3rd time seeing Velvet Revolver, thought they came out a little off for Sucker Train Blues, but got it going for the rest of the set. If the generation of these kids like that korn shit, well they have no f!cking clue, those guys best songs were covers of Metalicca and Floyd. I was in front of Slash about 3 people back in the pit and there was absolutely no one rocking, they just stood there like they were watching a video on MTV, pathetic!!! Slash is a God and these kids looked like they were in awe, cause they never saw a guy actually play a guitar like that, they think they just bang the strings and bang their heads. Back to the boys, just like @ the Starland show in July, they are the best rock and fucking roll band, but they did disappoint me last nite, they just released their 3rd single and didn't play it. Also only 10 songs - I know there was a curfew @ midnite, but fuck it and jam another 4 or 5 songs and make K-rock pay for it...they got the cash!

But there is no better place then seeing a great fucking band then in a personal setting like the Starland. Hopefully Velvet Revolver comes back to the area with their fans ready to rock! Velvet Revolver, thanks for another kick ass show, I fucking thourghly enjoyed it!!!

Thanks to Adam: Velvet Revolver was great. The sound quality in the arena wasn't too swift, but my friend and I were so into the performance, we didn't care. The problem with the concert wasn't the sound quality so much but the band lineup instead. Papa Roach and Korn had no place in a concert when Velvet Revolver is headlining. I am not exactly quite sure why Franz Ferdinand was booed so much. I am not a fan of this band, but I can't say they were terrible. I actually have never really listened to them. Jimmy Eat World was great as well. I know some people seem to put them down, but I give them much props because this band started out as a punk rock band and just seemed to mesh better and better as they kept writing records. It really upset me when I was going crazy to to Set Me Free and I would see people leaving. What the fuck is there problem. At least give Velvet Revolver respect. They done a lot more for rock n roll and music in general then stupid fucking shit like Korn. Korn isn't even fucking music. The other thing that was shit about the concert was the cut-off of booze when many people were waiting in line for 20 or more minutes. I just wanted to get my last beers in me before Velvet Revolver and the fucking security guards cut the beer off. Again, Velvet Revolver was great and they rocked the true fans who stayed and listened. I just think the general public needs a fucking education in what "real" rock n roll is.

Velvet Revolver put on an awesome show. This is the first time I saw Scott since Family Values a few years back, when STP was still around and the first time I saw the guys from GNR. I wish I was around back then for GNR.

Anyways, The show was insane, the crowd didn't get into Velvet Revolver though. It's understandable since most probably didn't know any songs other than their 3 radio hits. Most of the energy went into KoRn, which out of their 16 songs, around 13 were radio hits.

Great show, I will definately see Velvet Revolver again, hopefully in a smaller venue, like Irving Plaza or Hammerstein, where the sound is much better.

Thanks to Jeff Magahan: I was at the Clausfest show in East Rutherford last night and what a show. Velvet Revolver did what they could, and after reading some other reviews I will add to what other's thought too. They got ripped off. The sound quality was shitty and having them go after Korn was an injustice. Korn, though a good band, is totally different music and especially a different following. I was in the front row on Slash's side and when Korn got off, a quarter of the place left. Just looking at Duff and Matt during one song they were looking out at the crowd and looked back at each other and they had a look of disgust on their faces. You could tell they felt they got ripped off too. I saw these guys at Starland Ballroom on July 29th and it was off the hook. Though last night was a good show, Starland blew last night away. Velvet Revolver is ready for arena play, but not in a situation like that. Between the sound quality, the people leaving early and how most of the people left showed no enthusiasm, Velvet Revolver was given no justice. If anyone can go see them at a smaller venue, do it, the power they give off is great and once they get a better fan base in arena's, they will be fine. This band is here to stay and will prove in time to the nonbelievers that they are rock n roll.

Thanks to lizardking: I saw Velvet Revolver! I saw living legends and they were horrible! I've been a Scott Weiland fan ever since I saw Sex Type Thing on Vh1 back in '93 and oh yeah I was 8! I remember being ten and flippin out when STP was gonna play with Cheap Trick (p.s. that tour never happened in the end). Most of all I was stoked when I saw STP with the Chili Peppers in 2000, don't ask how much I payed for that show! I've seen alot of bands, from the Who, to Neil Young, to the great Bruce Springstein but no show was better than that STP show. However last night the magic was not there, they sounded tight but the volume was too low and even Weiland himself couldn't capture an audience who were at a show for the last 5 hours straight and were in diapers when GnR came out and in kindergarden when STp came out. I'm 20 and was probably the oldest person there next to Slash. In a gritty, sweaty club these guys would have been on fire, Weiland's stage pressence is still unreal, but in a 20,000 seat arena they couldn't hack it. My advice see em in a place where you can smell they sweat.. it'll rock.. See em in a place you can barely see em? Save your dough.

Thanks to Randy: Let me start off by saying, as posted in the previous reviews for this show, that this was a KROCK (NYC Rock Radio station) sponspored Xmas show (Claus Fest), which also included Chevelle, Papa Roach, Franz Ferdinand, Jimmy Eat World, and Korn). This was the third time I've seen Velvet Revolver and I must say they absolutely rocked, but the crowd on the other hand, which was a mixture of Korn and young rock fans, just weren't fit for Velvet Revolver.

I think the first mistake was that Velvet Revolver headlined the show. As they are by far my favorite band on this lineup, Korn obviously has a much wider fan base and I must admit they did rock, mainly because they played their greatest hits set since they have no new material. If Velvet Revolver went on before Korn, I think the crowd would've been more into it. Korn seemed to have drained the energy from most of the crowd, especially those standing on the floor. I was getting really pissed sitting in the stands seeing a bunch of morons leaving in the middle of Velvet Revolver's set. Fuckin idiots do not know real rock music when they see/hear it.

As for Velvet Revolver's set, it was obviously shortened (they left out Mr. Brownstone, Crackerman, Used To Love Her, since they were pressed for time). What shocked me was that the crowd didn't even go nuts for It's So Easy! The crowd only seemed really into it when they played Sex Type Thing, when Scott did his clap session mid-song, and Slither which were the final 2 songs.

These guys are amazing live and I'm sure the next time they come in the NYC area, the crowd will actually be Velvet Revolver fans and they will absolutely tear the muthafuckin place down.

Chevelle sucked so much. Papa Roach was very electrifying and you could feel the vibe. I really enjoyed Franz Ferdinand. Almost everyone there thought they sucked. To be honest with you I think they are very talented. Jimmy Eat World has to be one the worst bands ever. They are horrible. Korn got on and was absolutely crazy. The whole floor was going crazy and the people loved them. Then Velvet Revolver. They came out opening with Sucker Train Blues. It was insane. The guitars were screaming and the whole band was into it. Then Do It For The Kids. That was amazing. Just the whole set list was great. I feel they are the best fucking band in the world. The only thing that got me mad was the fake fans on the top. They were trying to dance but had no idea what was going on. What ever there were many fans there which I think is great.

The whole experience was great. I had a great time. A lot of fun singing with Scott. They are just such a great live band. If you haven't seen them yet I suggest you do. They really know how to play a great show. This isn't my first time seing them. I saw them at Roseland Ball Room with my dad. No joke I was probably the youngest kid there. But whatever. They are great. Hope I will see them many more times. They are among my favorite band around right there. It is amazing to go and see my idol play the guitar. Slash is the reasson today I play guitar. Go and see them next time they are around.

Thanks to Anonymous: Well, this show was great and terrible at the same time. Velvet Revolver's actual performance was fantastic. They were tight as a band and energetic on stage. The only problem was the crowd sucked. This was a six-band, radio-sponsored festival show and the sponsoring radio station plays modern rock. Hence, most of the audience were into that nu-metal shit and didn't know rock n' roll from a kick in the head. So while Korn got an amazing response for a sub-par performance, the crowd was indifferent to Velvet Revolver (which is better than the boos Franz Ferdinand got for what I consider to be the second best performance of the night). Fall To Pieces got a decent response, as did Sex Type Thing. No one even knew It's So Easy (the kid sitting next to me screamed "play some GN'R already! right after they finished ISE). While I'm glad I finally saw Velvet Revolver and thoroughly enjoyed their performance, I wish they'd stick to their own shows so the crowd would be more into it.

Let me start off by saying that the bands prior to Velvet Revolver (in this order: Chevelle, Papa Roach, Franz Ferdinand, Jimmy Eat World and Korn) sucked. I actually had to sit through this shit. And then... Velvet Revolver. I went abso-fuckin-lutely nuts. So did a ton of other people, but it seemed more rowdy when Korn was on. That's because their music sucks and all the people can do is bang their heads. Realll cool. Anyway. Wow. What a fucking show. They performed for one hour and went on last and it was the longest set. I appreciate Velvet Revolver so much now after seeing Inside/Out and then seeing this show. However, Scott was definitely wasted. Highlights of their set: That guy coming out and saying: "You wanted the best, well they didn't fucking make it! From Hollywood... Velvet Revolver!" Extended "Set Me Free" was beautiful!! The crowd went bonkers for "It's So Easy" and "Sex Type Thing"... the show was just great. Great. I think they're ready for an arena.

Sex Type Thing -- He did the clapping thing and the thing where he makes the audience cheer and then stop. When he raises his arms and then lowers them -- beautiful.

Slither - Slash came out in the top hat and cig... and he rocked. My friend Megan, who really didn't know Velvet Revolver, was absolutely paralyzed by his playing. I just kept screaming the words along and cheering my boys on. Duff was shirtless for most of it. He has a fucking sick body. Wow. Scott, Scott is Scott. He came out in the typical hat and leather and by the end, he was shirtless with just leather pants. Hot hot hot hot. I didn't really look at Matt because with all the guys running around, it wasn't necessary. But he rocked. Dave was absoutely awesome, as well. I could see Velvet Revolver every day in concert and never get bored. Awesome set, awesome. My voice is hoarse and almost gone and it was well worth it.

Velvet Revolver, you fucking rock!!!!!!

Thanks to Anthony: This show was terrible. Velvet Revolver was left hung out to dry by the Cock Rock band KORN. Too big of venue with the wrong crowd I love Velvet Revolver and I'm such a huge Scott Weiland fan, but there was not much they could do. The majority of the arena was filled with dumb juice head Korn fans who all looked like they were strangers to a bath. Korn was the loudest band of the night by far. By the time Velvet Revolver hit the stage all the crowd energy and bass seemed to be all used up. They rushed through a usual radio festival set and Weiland seemed to overdue his usual stage moves to the point where most people where scratching their heads. I even heard a bunch of people talking next to be about how over-rated they were. The only big crowd reaction of the night was STP's Sex Type thing (which makes me really miss my STP), to me didn't sound half as loud as the times I heard them master it at Roseland and Starland Ballroom. The maybe 70% of the crowd that were actually left got into this one a bit, claping along with Scott during the middle of the song. Another thing I didn't like at all was the sound quality. That piece of shit band Jimmy Eat World sound actually was way better. I thought that was extreme bullshit. I mean Velvet Revolver is the headliner, they least they can make them sound decent. Also on the was home my friend and I switched on KROCK and all these people were calling in 1 by 1 to bash Velvet Revolver. I wanted to rip through the phone and kick them in there Korn loving ass, but I could not blame them. If I never heard any Velvet Revolver before and only had this concert to go off of I would say they suck too. Somebody needs a reality check when booking these gigs so my fav band doesn't look like idiots. You can't put a rock and roll band after a metal cock rock/rap band. Well at least the new red sign they got looked good.
