Thanks to Viper One: Being on local crew for this gig was great. Seeing the sound check with them doing Sucker Train Blues was great. The No More, No More Aerosmith tune for Dimebag was epic and Slither live is unbelieveable. Great show.
Thanks to Paul: That was the best concert I've ever been to and I've seen Motley Crue, AC/DC, GNR and STP among others. They tore that place apart. There was no room to move and the whole crowd was intense. I saw them earlier in Chicago before the release of Contraband and although the show was good, it wasn't like this. Superhuman is awesome live and Scott's voice has become something else. That Aerosmith cover of No More No More was pretty cool, especially when Slash broke it down. The band has really seemed to gel and each one is performing at their best. After the show I met Slash and he didn't disappoint his fans as he signed autographs and shook hands. I can't wait to go to another of their shows.
Also, Susan Holmes and her bathing suit show was a great opener. I'd suggest checking some of that stuff out if you are a girl or are shopping for your girl. Thanks to Mansion for putting on this show and providing the hotties for us to look at...very nice on the eyes.
Thanks to Stacy Milon, Mansion club owner: Even better than STP. Scott ceases to amaze. Velvet Revolver rocked the club as I knew they would. Thanks guys for playing at our nightclub. All the best.
Thanks to Tom M: Velvet Revolver was f'n awesome! Whole band was even better live than could have been expected; totally enthralling performance. This is definitely a band to be seen live - hoping that they enjoyed SoBe so maybe they make another appearance.
Thanks to Adam: Well, in a town that is starving for some real rock n' roll, Velvet Revolver was able to blow the roof off the Mansion. This was my second time seeing the band and the intensity of the show was like no other. The first time I caught the band was right before their release of Contraband, therefore the crowd interaction with the band was not as tight as last night. Fans were able to sing along with the band and it created an amazing environment. The two songs that stand out for me were It's So Easy and Slither. Nonetheless, the entire event was great, from the hot girls during the modeling show to the greatest band in the world, Velvet Revolver.
The sad thing is that the event was 21 and over, as younger crowds of people were turned away at the door. Other than the crappy service provided by the jerks at the venue, the event was amazing. Hopefully, Velvet Revolver will play a bigger venue next time but the intimacy of this event added so much for fans. Finally, we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Slash after the show, as he shook hands and signed autographs. Nothing like Rock n' Roll. Thank you very much!!!!
Thanks to Carlos Raurell: My friend, Eden, was lucky enough to score a couple of complimentary passes for the show and kind enough to take me as her guest, which was sponsored by Camel Cigarrettes. Tickets for this largely unpublicised show were in such high demand that the line of hopefuls wishing to buy tickets that were rumored to be available at the door stretched around the block. I doubt that they all got in and it is a shame because the show rocked.
The venue, Mansion, is a cozy old theater turned night club on Washington Avenue in Miami Beach. Beneath its glamorous balconies and elegant chandeliers, Mansion's scantily clad cocktail waitresses served over-priced drinks to fans who would not be denied a buzz for the show. The only women wearing less than Mansion's coctail waitresses were the models in a lingery fashion show that preceded Velvet Revolver's performance. As the ultra sexy models strutted their stuff on stage, a dj in a booth that appears like a large picture frame above and to the left of the stage played an assortment of uplifting tunes I'd never heard before.
Velvet Revolver went on stage sometime after midnight. The band totally blew away the several hundred lucky fans in attendance. Scott was dressed like a police officer, but not for long -- by the end of the show he was shirtless. Slash looked and dressed very much as I remember he did when I saw G & R in concert about a decade ago. He wore a black tank-top and his hair was enormous. Unfortunately, for reasons I won't go into, I cannot remember what songs the band played in the roughly 75 minute long set. I do recall that the crowd went most crazy for Slither and Fall to Pieces. The crowd also reacted strongly when Scott dedicated a song to the recently slain member of Pantera, Dimebag Darryl.
After the show, everyone was all smiles and a bit hard of hearing. Some stuck around for a set from internationally known dj Armand Van Helden, but Eden and I did not. It was a night I have some difficulty remembering but which I will not soon forget.
Thanks to Thera Raio: I saw the show live on CamelSmokes.com as a special web event and Velvet Revolver was fabulous!!! Just a great, kick-ass, lou, and well played show. I sat at my computer for over 1 1/2 hours, maximized the screen and felt like I was right there in front row, only better because I saw them play from every angle, from behind stage, from behind Matt on drums, and from the audience perspective. Scott looked drug-free, healthy and had an amazing voice. So much energy was put into his performance and the band looks like a great, tight-knit family when they interact with each other on stage. All-in-all, a tremendous show from all of them.
