Thanks to Chris Large: I saw VR in Vegas a few years ago on New Years Day, and it was hot! I was shocked when not only saw but heard Scott in OC. It was hard to believe it was him. It looked like him, but did not sound like him. The energy displayed in Vegas was no longer there. Very flat, and just going through the motions. D+ at best....

Thanks to Tina: I thought it was funny when Scott Weiland referred to Slash as "Zak" in reference to the (kid) character who portrayed Slash in the movie "School of Rock." Did anyone else catch that??

Thanks to Rose But Noguns: Good seats: middle section, not TOO far back. Sound was excellent. Jumbotrons were crystal clear. Lightning was crackling, looked like every seat was filled with a happy crowd. Am I wrong, but did Slash and Duff seem subdued, sad, somber? Scott gave his all--looks like he's put on a healthy pound or two since rehab. His voice was right on. But, I know, I know....it just wasn't the same without....well, I don't need to say any more. I'll be at the Devore show if it comes off on Sept. 23rd. Best song of the nite? "Mr. Brownstone," hands down--goes to show ya. And a special thanks to the OC Fair admins for putting beer in plastic bottles.

Thanks to Tina from Long Beach: The show was awesome, full of energy and passion! Scott's vocals were great (he could use less of that bull horn though) Slash's guitar licks were unbelievable!! They seemed to really enjoy each other's company and have fun performing. I saw them a few month's ago at Arrowhead Pond-the Pacific Ampitheatre show was much better more cohesiveness and style. I am looking forward to their new CD.

Thanks to Kelly: Well I have to say after seeing these guys for the fifth time, this was the best show out of all of them! The venue was GREAT, the sound was GREAT and Scott looked and sounded sooooo awesome! He is definately looking very healthy and happy! Usually I am there for the guitars but he had me fixated all night long. WOW!!!! I have never seen them so tight. Only bummer was Duff seemed a little less of himself, not jumping around as much as he usually does, but he was still the bomb. Nice to see them play to a REAL crowd where EVERYONE was standing the WHOLE #%$@# time and the place was sold out. Doors and Pink Floyd made the night with the whole place just comin' down with it all. Loved it beyond words can say, they are the BEST kick ass rock band on the planet. Can't wait for the new album and plug out a lot more concerts. Gonna DEFINATELY get closer on the next one. VR U RULE!

You're right about Duff. He usually jumps around more. Dave was nuts and Slash. We met Dave after the show. He is a really good/cool guy. Duff n Slash ducked away afterwards, no autographs. It seemed that these shows run a lot longer than in the past. Or maybe that's just me.

I got to see Slash do some soundcheck, but we got kicked out of that too! His whole family was there. It was a really good show.. I can't wait to go again on Thursday.

Thanks to Trist805#2: I just got back and yes the show was GREAT! Yea the setlist was the same as last night. I managed to record three songs. Fall To Pieces which was amazing, Illegal I song (there is a part where Slash rips into this crazy solo and starts going off). The only bad part was that a guard came over and told me to turn it off about a little over half way into the solo. But then I turned it back on later and recorded Mr. Brownstone. I will try to get them on my computer tomorrow and then maybe I can email one of you the files cuz I don't know how to put them up on here.

Now about the show. They really grabbed the audience by the balls. They rocked so hard that all of my least favorite songs were actually my fav ones from the show and the ones I wanted to hear didn't impress me as much. That isn't a put down though. I just thought the first four songs were kinda plain and went by fast (which were my favs). But once Fall To Pieces started (not really one of my favs) they really got warmed up. They really did a lot of improvising and it wasn't like they were just going through all their old songs. They really played the fuck out of their songs. They added cool parts and changed stuff around a bit. You could tell they were really tight as band. A few songs that I can think of where they did this was FTP, Illegal I song, Set me Free, and Sex Type Thing. Matt was really hitting the drums hard on Mr. Brownstone too.

Duff seemed a little subdued to me, he still rocked but he didn't seem as wild as Dave and Scott. Now I'll admit I wasn't really looking forward to seeing Slash as much I was the other guys. I thought maybe he wouldn't be able to shred like the old days but WOW he was really amazing. He totally still has it as a guitar player just like the old days. They all looked great. Scott switched the wardrobe up a bit. He didn't really wear the police hat that much and just wore pants and no shirt most of the time. One funny part was when Scott said he smelled marijuana in the crowd and he said something like "it smells good, it's been a while." I thought that was funny. Ok sorry if I was rambling on I just got back and thought I'd write it down while things are still fresh in my mind. Scott's voice was amazing too as usual. Roadhouse Blues kicked ass too. It's one of those songs that suits them well and their image. They also definatly had the cool factor going too the whole night. Alright goodnight. I'll try to get those songs up soon.

Also did anyone else notice during Superhuman, I think Scott changed the lyric instead of tie the rope around her neck and get the show on the road. I'm pretty sure he said tie the rope around her neck and let's start fuckin.

Thanks to Wade Stone: This show was way sick! All the guys did there thing and put on a great show. There were some awesome covers done. The usual STP and GnR and then some Pink Floyd and the Doors. No new VR songs but all the old ones were rockin. I even met the boys of 18 Visions, they were there rockin along just like any other fan. Good show overall.

ROCK'N'ROLL

Thanks to Josh: AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME SHOW!!! At first I was a litte dissapointed when I heard that no new songs were going to be played BUT these guys pulled off a HELL of a show. Scott's voice has never sounded better (and even after going through like 7 cigarettes). All the guys were jumping all over the place and being their awesome selves. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the weird techno beats that Scott was playing on the keyboard during Illegal I song...it just distorted Slash's solo. Slash though was the MAN on Set Me Free with the killer solos. Set list was pretty much the same as the Vegas show, first time for me to hear Wish You Were Here live and it is sooo beautiful. Can't wait to hear some new stuff though lol. BTW anyone know why they pretty much set out Scott's dinner next to the drum set? He didn't even touch it.

Thanks to Carolina: Just want to say that this is one of the best shows I have ever been to. I could not have asked for a better set of songs from these guys. Slash proved once again that he is the best guitarist alive. Scott Weiland as always gave an amazing performance as well as the rest of the band. They played two GNR songs (It's So Easy and Mr Brownstone) and two STP songs as well as Pink Floyd and the Doors. If you haven't seen these guys you have to go. It is a once in a lifetime experience. Love you guys! F@%* Axl!

It started with the ride from hell, Hollywood to Costa Mesa. It should take 50 minutes, but that never happens with the bumper to bumper traffic. It was more like 2 hours. It was at The Pacific Amphitheatre, which is in the Orange County Fairgrounds (I think). It was hotter then hell (about 100 degrees) and if you live in LA, Costa Mesa is a different planet. Suffering from heat exhaustion and quite a few cold beers, this is my version.

The show started around 8:30 (not 8) and there was no opening band! It was so hot that my recall could be a little off, but I believe they opened with Dirty Little Thing, then launched into Headspace.

Although there were no new songs played from the upcoming Libertad (or Come On, Come in) they played everything off of Contraband except Loving The Alien. Other hot ones were STP's Crackerman and Sex Type Thing, GnR's It's So Easy and the last 3 songs that tore the roof off the place (if they had a roof) were 3 MINDBLOWING versions of Pink Floyds "Wish You Were Here" (with the whole crowd singing along), a roughed up, slightly faster version of GnR's "Mr. Brownstone" (with lots of heads bobbing up and down and hands thrusting up to the sky) and last, but nowhere near least, "Slither"! They all looked really great, amazing chemistry between them all. Scott sounded better than ever, running and dancing the whole time! Slash played some guitar solos so kickass, it gave this sweaty guy chills (for real)! Matt, Duff and Dave all playing exceptional!

The only downside was crappy sound at first, but by the 4th song, things started to improve (outside venues usually have a rough time with a great, loud mix) and by the end, all music and vocals were cranked and sounding excellent! If this chemistry and greatness is any indication of how the new "Libertad" is to sound, there won't be a dry eye on the planet, because you'll be in tears at how great it is! Scott also never mentioned anything about a new record... but no one with half of a brain out there could complain about that, because the show was so GREAT.
