Thanks to Wesley "Steve Riley" William: Hey fucker's!!!! I had the happiness of being in the two shows in Brazil, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro, a velha cidade maravilhosa se sacudiu ao som do VR, eles definitivamente são uma banda, foi emocionante ver todos cantando junto com Scott. The night was hot, the band put back about 10 to 15 minutes, and then I hear an old and well-known voice " Rio..From Hollywood.. Velvet Revolver" e a histeria começou, eu não conseguia acreditar que estava lá, bem na frente do palco, bem na frente de Duff McKagan. 10 years passed since I heard Gn'R for the first time and finally I was in front of Slash, Duff and Sorum. The show begins with the new "Let it Roll" and as well as in São Paulo, she pleased the whole ones.


"Do It For The Kids" made everybody to sing and to jump, we were whole crazy :-) " Sucker Train Blues " takes everybody to the delirium, once again, Duff is really great other new song, "She Mine" great music, it made me to be anxious to hear Libertad. "Superhuman" and "Crackerman" I didn't really get to believe that was witnessing all this. "Fall To Pieces" I swear that I didn't get to see a person that was not singing with Scott, it was touching.
"Get Out The Door " the best of the new songs, in my opinion, certainty many other they found the same as me.
"It's so Easy" I think I don't need to say anything on that, I was hearing It's So " Fuckin' " Easy!!!!! she sounds perfect with Slash, Duff and Sorum. " Sex Type Thing " more a great moment. "She Builds Quick Machines " I really precise hear Libertad, the new songs are fuckin' great. "Set Me Free" as it is wonderful to see Slash to play that riff, live, well in my nose. "Used To Love my Her " Deus, were they playing Used To Love Her, could not it be real, will it be that was everything a dream!? Well, the pains in my body make me to believe that was real.

" Wish You Were Here " was a beautiful moment, without a doubt, everybody singing with Scott, touching.
"Mr. Brownstone " Matt Sorum plays the intro of You Could Be Mine and it takes everybody to think that the band would play it, even so it was alone part of a small solo that sent us to Illusion Tour solos, beginning soon after, Mr. Brownstone making everybody to be delirious. "Slither " yes unhappily that great night was even reaching the end, I was still in ecstasy state, it seemed that had taken an a shower with clothes, I was transpiring until the soul.

The show of São Paulo was formidable, but they definitively were big in Rio de Janeiro. And me!? well, I'm a motherfucker lucky for witnessing the two great shows in my country.

Excuse my terrible English, I wait that is possible they understand the emotion that went those two shows to me and for the Brazilian fans.

Thanks to Luciano: Here's some thought about the show.

First thing to say is that it was an Aerosmith show (VR was opening) and so it was a 90% Aerosmith crowd (and I mean an Aerosmith "I-love all-the-ballads-and-I-never-heard-this-Draw-the-Line-song" crowd), so people just didn't care about VR. It made for a bad show and also a shorter show than the other South American Shows (they cut 3 or 4 songs from the set). Another thing: the sound was AWFUL, it was really hard to listen to Scott.

Saying that, the coolest thing about this show is that VR played 4 new songs. The first one was kinda boring (in the same way as "Set Me Free" or Iron Maiden's "Be Quick or be Dead"). It was a fast song, an OK song, but never a great song. Second thing I noticed is that there was not much Slash solos on any of the new songs. I certainly missed them. But there was also good stuff. Two new songs were really cool, really rockin' songs. There was one particular song that had a GREAT catchy sexy-groovy riff by Slash (I mean sexy-groovy in the same vein as "Mr. Brownstone" and "Rocket Queen"). I am looking forward to listen to that song again on Libertad or in a great live recording. It was very cool to see that they are playing so many new songs even before releasing the album. But of course they had a weak crowd response. Pretty much nobody moved during these new songs.

About the covers, VR played GNR's "Easy" and "Brownstone" and I loved them and everybody loved them because these are great songs, it is impossible not to love them. But these songs need Axl (of course) and these songs need Izzy SO BAD. Yes, everybody went NUTS on these songs but for me the joy faded fast because both songs SUCKED. VR can't play these songs as they should, period. Maybe it is because they did NOT want to play it (Slash said they won't play them anymore after these South American shows) and probably because they didn't even rehearsed them, but I guess both sucked because Dave CAN NOT play these songs (it is amazing how BAD he sounds on them, even the new Axl's cover band plays it better!). And I won't even say a word about Scott Weiland, because you can barely hear him with 30.000 maniac-people singing along these 2 songs. Also it is pretty clear why they will remove these songs from the set: because they are the only ones that get a CRAZY crowd response, it must be very sad for them to see everybody standing still on VR songs and jumping like crazy on GNR songs.

They also played two STP songs, one I don't know the name (I guess it was Crackerman, and it is a weak song and it was totally ignored by the crowd) and the other was Sex Type Thing. This is a great song but unfortunelly this was downhill time. The band stopped playing in the midle of the song and started "jammimg" and Weiland started singing "uuh-uhh-uhh" and making noises for ages (like four or five minutes!) and it was so ANNOYING and the band didn't know what to do. This was BAD, I was very close to the stage and in the middle of this "jam" (whick was not an actual jam, because it was mainly Matt and Duff playing) the guys were looking at each other like "what do we do now?" and it was so obvious that they didn't know what to do AND (that is the worst part) they didn't even tried to do anything like a guitar jam or something (something that GNR did with perfection on live shows). It just showed how Slash and Dave are not "entrosados" (I don't know the right word in english for it).

They also played the usual Contraband songs (Set me Free, Slither, Fall to Pieces, etc) but the problem is that these songs ARE NOT GREAT. They have some nice guitars and nice parts and pieces, but they don't make you crazy like a great rock song does. Actually that is the problem with VR: they do not have great songs (yet). Maybe that will change with Libertad. I hope it does, but by the live preview of the new songs, Libertad won't be a radical change. They seem better, for sure, but I have my doubts. I hope I am wrong and I hope it is a realyy great album. And I hope they can come back to Brazil and do a better show! Maybe with Izzy replacing Dave (now that would be GREAT).

Thanks to Filippo Piovano: The crowd was cheering like hell for VR, most of the younger generation was there for them. Every time Slash apeared on the big screen, everyone cheered (but it took quite a while for the camera man to notice that we wanted to see him). The sound and lighting was crap, it got a bit better around half way through their show. but even under these conditions they rocked with (the best songs in my opinion) Do It For The Kids, Sucker Train Blues and Set Me Free but everyone (especially me) loved the GNR songs It's So Easy and Mr. Brownstone. VR managed to rock the stadium and as my first show and as a reviewer, I have to say...it ROCKED.

Thanks to Joicy Boschetti: It was the best show all of my life........incredible. Slash is my guitar hero..... I felt a big emotion.

Thanks to Igor: It was a great concert, and for me it seemed that 'It's so Easy' was it's highest moment. As most of the people were there for seeing Aerosmith, only a few actually knew VR's songs, which explains why they enjoyed most a Guns cover. The sound quality was not very good, the bass was a bit loud, Dave's guitar volume was low and Scott's voice couldn't be understood sometimes. Not sure if they were using their own PA system, as Aerosmith's sound was much more balanced, with the exception of Joe Perry's guitar volume being too low in the first half of the concert. It could also be due to the fact that they're just begining their tour, so things are still being adjusted. But overall it was an excellent concert, with lot's of energy from Slash and mainly Scott, and I'm sure people in Rio will have a much better experience at Citibank Hall as it's a much smaller venue. Looking forward to watch them again live!

Thanks to Fabiano Mattos Cruz: I was there... very, very close to them... crushed on the fence... but I was happy! I almost couldn't believe my eyes. I'm still sort of anesthetized. What really impressed me was the way the band fit together! We already knew Matt, Duff and Slash (playing together, I mean), but Dave and Scott were at home playing with them. Definitely, that was a hell of a show! Surprisingly amazing! Ow, BTW, "Crackerman", "Mr. Brownstone", "Sex Type Thing", "Set Me Free" and "Sucker Train Blues" was awesome! Outstanding!

Songs like 'Set Me Free', 'Slither' , 'Fall To Pieces' and 'It's So Easy' made the people in the Morumbi Stadium sing as loud as the human voice can reach! Slash shows once more his "feeling" at playing the solos from 'Fall To Pieces n' 'Mr. Brownstone'! Amazing how the crowd went crazy at everytime he apeared on the screen or show up on the top o' the the stage. It was an amazing night!! Be sure that São Paulo will never forget it! Come back quick PLEASE!!!!!

Duff, the same fuckin style, the same fuckin rock n roll, he kicked ass man...Dave was perfect too, all the background guitar effects were amazing.... I wanted more songs, but I'm sure they'll come back as soon as they show LIBERTAD off.... The best concert of my life...everywhere I looked around people were crying. I still can't believe that I was there! People went nut for them! Thank you guys for the best night of my life!

Thanks to Walter: Great show! They opened up with a great new song, 'Let It Roll'. The biggest crowd pleasers of the night were 'Crackerman', 'Fall To Pieces' and 'Mr. Brownstone'. Slash is always a great presence on stage, his playing is getting better year after year. Every time he appeared on the screen the crowd went nuts! He exchanged some great riffs with Dave Kushner, while Matt and Duff kept a very solid base. Scott didn't stop moving from on side to another, his voice never getting out of tune. Matt came back to the encore wearing the jersey of the Brazilian soccer team with number 10 on the back, which was very flattering for us. They left the stage heavily aplauded by 60 thousand people. My advice: if VR comes to your town, don't miss the show! They're one of the very few rock bands playing good music today. No frills, no rants, no interuruptions. Just pure and simple rock n'roll. These guys rock!
