Thanks to Sweet Sister: Great gig! But what, an hour and a quarter they played for or something? Tooooo quick! Quickest gig ever.
Slash just owned.

Duff smiled so much, that made me smile and yeah, he has a body to absolutley die for!

Thought Scott sang his heart out, you could see the effort on his face. Think they all enjoyed themselves too.
Performance of the night for me was Set Me Free, I thought all of them gave it everything they had. It rocked hard.
It's so easy and Slither were up there too for me.

2 bad points only for me

1) Have people been eating garden grow with their dinner 'cos me and my mate are tall, but everyone else seemed to be so much more taller than us, first time I've ever struggled to see a stage! Haha!

2) Mobile bloody phones, at one point there were between 14-18 guys in front of us, all with their camera phones up at the same time in front of me, in order to see anything I had to actually look into their phone screens, I don't care what anyones reasons for taking pics or recordong clips are, it was an absolute pain in the tits as far as I was concerned.

But well what can you do?

Thanks to Slash666: All in all it was a great gig, very very very tight set. Managed to get 4 plectrums, 2 of Duff's, 1 of Dave
s & 1 of Slash's. My brother had Matt's drum stick but some idiot stole it off him lol. The funniest part of the night was during "It's So Easy" when Dave came over to the side I was on (just to the right when looking at the stage) and me and my brother started bowing at Dave whilst saying "we're Not Worthy" and Dave was laughing saying "please stop". I managed to get Dave Kushner embarrassed!

This poor lass next to me fainted near the end and we all pulled her over the barrier, hope she's ok.

Thanks to Robert M.: Support act Zico Chain were tight and worked very hard. They went down well and I’m sure they made some new fans on the night. The bass sound was more of a “detonation” than anything else – a problem that affected VR also.

VR came on just after 9pm and were in blistering form from the off. Scott, in particular, was inspired – his voice was outstanding and all the moves, twirls and slithers were fluid and loose. t was great to see him at the top of his game!

Duff & Dave paid plenty of attention to the crowd – lots of eye contact and movement. Slash was fairly quiet early on (could have been the sound, he seemed to be sticking to “sweet spots” on the stage) but, when he started to move, boy was he fast! Overall, the band was very tight and seemed, despite the place not being nearly full, to be enjoying themselves. There was a lot of camaraderie – not least when Scott nabbed Dave’s hat and wore it for half a song (forget which one). Personally, I thought it suited him rather better than the peaked cap!

“Get Out The Door” was introduced as being about Hollywood – both the good things and otherwise. And, during a superb “Wish You Were Here”, Scott said, “Every day, soldiers and civilians are dying overseas in a pointless war. This song is dedicated to them.” He also threw in Jim Morrison’s “Five to one, baby, one in five. No-one here gets out alive” at the start of “Psycho Killer”.

As I said, the bass sound was a problem all night –“Superhuman” was a bit stodgy and, in “SBQM” we could hardly hear Dave but everything else was great. Highlights for my mates and I were “The Last Fight”, “Just Sixteen” (came across very punchy and clear), “Big Machine” (good use of the light show) and a blistering “Set Me Free”.

All in all, a fantastic show – if this had been held at the Barrowlands, it would have been one of the all time great gigs, no question about it.

Thanks to Paul Wilkie: The whole band were on excellent form, fabulous set-list and I liked the new material, especially the new EP single 'SHE BUILDS QUICK MACHINES', similar to 'SLITHER' in terms of the mellow section leading to Slash ripping into another, beautiful kick ass solo. Matt's crashing drums complimented the guitar work or Slash, Duff and Dave very well and Scott gave a really swaggering lead man performance, but Slash, man, he just can't be that good!! Top-hatted from start to finish and playing like a demon, there is no doubt Slash is the beating heart of this band. I had hoped the guys would have played maybe one more G'n'R tune, such as 'MR.BROWNSTONE', as they did do in previous Glasgow gigs but it wasn't to be.

With Slash having "allegedly" said a future reunion with Axl would not be out of the question, could this be the last time this line up appears in Glasgow?? Let's hope not!

Lastly, why do promoters still put rock bands like VR in SHITE venues like the SECC, it's a shed, a hollow hole with DREADFUL acoustics. WHY?? When the Barrowlands and the Carling Academy give a much better acoustic return and they are much more personal venues for fans to view gigs from. Promoters, forget squeezing another 1000 paying fans into the SECC and give fans what they want, REAL ROCK VENUES!!

Thanks to Victoria McLean: Omg I have never heard any of Velvet Revolver's songs before but I won tickets from the SECC to go see you guys and you were awesome. I loved it I got crushed likes lost ma shoe but then found my shoe. But it was such a good night. You guys rock and I will be coming next time your playing in Scotland.

Thanks to Neil: Apart from the mic drop out the gig was fantastic!! People thought the hall wasn't full enough, but it was enough for them to give VR a good response! New album sounds sweet! Can't wait for it's release!!

Thanks to LostBhoy: Great show, I saw a post that said Scott was miming, can't be true as his mic broke in the 2nd song and there was no vocals til he grabbed Duffs mic. You are confusing the vocal harmonies he uses on loops. Duff and Matt do backing vocals and Scott's voice is used for your 'ooh oohs' and such. It can be confusing tho as you hear his voice while he isn't singing but the vocals and harmonies cross over each other so he can't do both.

Thanks to Taz: The boys really outdid themselves. A stonkin show. I don't think Scott's voice has ever sounded so good and Slash was, as always, amazing! I might question the judgement of doing a promotional tour of an album not yet released. It was a bit strange to not know half of the set, but as always they pulled it off.

They were very badly let down by the sound controller. He was awful. About a third of Slashs' solos went entirely unnoticed and he was from the school of, 'if you want to make it better, make it louder.' This doesn't always work and didn't do the music any favours at all. It seems that the sound guys we get at the SECC seem to be of a similar mind and several concerts I have been to there recently have been very badly marred by hamfisted sound techs.
Another bad point was the Nazi storm troopers who were policing the place. I have never, in my life, been to a concert, {and believe me I have been to more than a few}, where the concert security guys were so uptight about standing up. I mean I've never been to a concert where I have HAD to sit in my seat. Ever. But these guys made it their mission to tell everyone to stay in their seat. Considering I had a sweaty 30 stone King Kong sitting next to me, it made the entire experience something I'd rather forget.

Other than for the band of course, who I'd glady pay to see again.

Keep on guys, you get better with age!

Thanks to Badger: 3rd time I've seen them and I have to say this was the best yet! Carling Acadamy gig a few years ago was awesome, and they were pretty good at SECC for their second gig but for this one everything seemed to go right!

I thought the sound was excellent...a hell of a lot better than the SECC usually is. New songs sounded top notch. Some of the younger guys and girls up the front didn't seem too enthused at the start of the newer songs but by the end they were cheering! Sounds like the new album will be amazing!

From where I was standing it didn't sound like Scott was miming...I thought his voice was the best i'd heard it. Matt and Duff were tight in their groove, and Slash and Dave were incredible.

Best gig I've been to!

Thanks to Rock_Fan: The guys produced a killer performance and failed to disappoint!! It was the fourth time that I had saw the guys live and it was certainly the best!! Not that the guys were bad before but they have now completely 'gelled' as a band and every single one of them were at the top of their game!!

Even the SECC's notoriously bad acoustics were up to par for a change LOL. Highlight's of the show for me were 'Let It Roll' could there be a better opener? I don't think so, 'The Last Fight' was immense, Slash treating us to a superb guitar solo on the double neck guitar before 'Wish You Were Here' and I was also pleased to hear one of my personnal favourites ' Superhuman'.

All in all a fantastic performance by a band at the top of their game!! As Scott himself said 'VIVA LIBERTAD!!' and after this performance the album can't come soon enough!!

Thanks to Craig: This was the 4th time I've seen VR and even thought I've seen them on better form I loved the show. In response to the first review there I would like to say that VR did well to fill the SECC as much as they did. They get no airplay here whatsoever, not once have I seen the video on any of the music channels, I've heard the new song on the local rock station a few times though.

This has been the 3rd time they have played the SECC in as many years and each time they get a bigger crowd. I know someone who is quite high up there and he said there was just over 7000 people there which made it about 70% full. Not bad 4 a band who get little attention. Besides, very few gigs I've been to @ the SECC have been sold out.

As 4 the sound problems, the SECC is not an arena, it's a conference center, it wasn't built for concerts but they should do something about it. Having said that, I've been told by the same person who works there that the bands who do play that do have great sound are the ones who put a good hour in sound checking, so if you do the work, you get the rewards. My only criticism was the set was a bit short at 85 mins. Would like to have heard Dirty Little Thing and Illegal i Song. Everyone around me certainly seemed to agree the new songs sounded good.

The merchandise was rubbish and overpriced as well. I mean £22 ($48) for a t-shirt??? I bought the bootleg stuff outside the venue for half the price and probably better quality. As for playing anywhere else, VR would need 2 play 3 nights @ the Carling Academy to satisfy demand, can't see them doing that...

Thanks to Calcy: Awesome, awesome, awesome! Bit of RnFnR in Glasgow. In case anyone saw me, I was the guy dressed as Slash. Thought it was pretty good but had to remove my hat to get into the crowd later on.

New songs I really enjoyed, esp Let It Roll and Just 16. It's good to see them gelling more and more as a band, not only in performance but also that they are playing less covers. Although was gutted to miss Mr Brownstone, but saw it the last two times.

I agree that especially for this 'warm-up' show they should have played the Barras or Carling as it was quite obvious early on this gig wouldn't even sell half out. Think ~5,000 tix were sold which ain't great but ain't bad.

Can't wait to hear Libertad!

Thanks to Mhairi: This was the third time I saw VR and I have to say that last night's show was the best they have ever played. I really like the new stuff that they played and for once, I thought that the SECC acoustics were great as I could hear every word that Scott sang. The band looked great and Scott looked healthy, my only complaint was it was all over too soon!!!! Hurry back to Glasgow guys!!

Thanks to velvetfan: That was amazing!! Slash kept playing these awsome solo's and everybody loved it....but the crowd went a bit wild, at least 20 people had to be carried away from the crowd!! The sound from the vocal parts were a bit poor, but the song were great!!! I loved every bit of it:P. I came all the way from Norway to see them, but it was really worth it!!!

Thanks to Belle: I was sooo looking forward to this gig but once again the S.E.C.C. let its self down and the band. The sound was poor and as has been previously said. NOT the bands fault they were as slick as ever and they appeared very relaxed and enjoying themselves. Slash looking and sounding superb. Duff what can I say he is like a fine wine getting better with age, as were the rest of the guys.

Though they could have played a wee bit more but hey that's just me every time I go to see them I don't want the night to end. Loved the set list and was chuckling when they broke into Psycho Killer. The new material sounded good but as we in the UK haven't been able to download it yet to get a wee sneak preview we haven't had time to appreciate it yet.....

Was disappointed to see the hall not as full as I thought it was gonna be soooo please please next time you guys come back to Scotland would you consider the Barrowlands or the Academy so much better for sound and atmosphere..

A cracking nite and canny wait on the new album........

Thanks to K tootell: Late on stage - but it was fantastic! Travelled 200 miles as sold out in Manchester, but it was worth it! Scott was brill - he owned that stage last night! It was good to see Duff, Matt and Slash - they haven't changed a bit - still looked the part and did their bit! Not forgetting Dave - we was lovin' it! Slash played the guitar behind his head bit, their was lots of sweaty tatooted bodies on show and of course the guys had the props, the hats, loud speaker and fags danglin' from their mouths! Still the best rock group out there - nothing can compare!!!!!!!

Thanks to Amcf: 3rd time seeing VR live and I hope im wrong on this but in my and others opinion Scott Weiland was miming. Not saying for the entire show but certainly part of it. anyone else who was at SECC last night think the same?

Thanks to Jimi: The gig was amazing, all members on top form, the 2005 gig was great, but they topped it this time. Scott ran about like mad the whole time, though the slip up with the mics limited him during Do It For The Kids. This didn't effect the gig at all though, was excellent throughout, especially the solo trading Slash and Dave done, they were both going crazy.

Thanks to Herby247: Ears are still ringing!! Great set put on by the guys and the Scottish crowd was well up for it! I even had to hold a guy back that was getting grabbed by the throat by some prick to which security duly removed!

Loved the Slash guitar solos, and me and my mate were going mental during It's So Easy, I stood still for about 3 mins filming Slash doing Wish You Were Here on my mobile, only to find it's not there now, GUTTED!

A lot of the new material got a luke warm reception with fans not having the uk album yet, prob a lot were just hearing the new stuff for the 1st time.

This was my 3rd time seeing VR in glasgow, but I gotta say I am getting sick of the SECC as the venue they play, the 1st time at the Carling Acd was the best yet, I don't even think tonight was sold out the whole left and right seating area was closed off, perhaps not enough tickets were sold? Shame cause in the Carling Acd tonight would have been a sell out!

People always say to me that the SECC has bad acoustics and tonight was the 1st time it was very apparent and at some times you could barely hear Scott's voice, it was as he was miming, I was dead in the centre of the standing about 4 rows from the front and it was very tough to hear the vocals, the SECC is so poor for this problem!

Not much banter with the crowd tonight either, but that's usually the case, having said all that I loved every minute of it, was great jumping around with so many other like minded VR fans and making the most of the night!

Next time Barrowlands or Carling Acd guys plz!!
