Thanks to Mike: After having just seen VR a few months back at the Smirnoff Amphitheatre in Dallas, catching them at a 1,200 seat House of Blues was tits. My guess is that they are doing this small club tour for their hardiest of fans, before they take some serious time off for cutting a third album and geting in some solo projects.

Ticket start time was 7:00pm, yet the band hit the stage well after 8:00, being introduced as the "band who put the punk in punctuality..."

Make no mistake about this, Velvet Revolver is THE premier American rock n' roll band, filling a void for thirty and forty something rock fans of a genre long since passed by today's music culture.

Kicking off with Let It Roll, and drawing on a stable of hits from their first two albums, the boys sounded crisp, loud, and tight. Slash was never better, fronting a wall of Marshall double stacked amps and killing it on his trademark sunburst Gibson Les Paul.

I'd always thought Matt Sorum to be a modern day John Bonham, even from his early days in the Cult. He literally has not missed a beat since the Use Your Illusion Tour.

Looking at Duff onstage, you've got to admire a guy who would give up a stockbroking career and come out of retirement to dress like he was sixteen again. But there he was, leathered out and pounding out the bass licks and backup vocals.

Dave was the only guy i'd never seen live before VR, but truly the most animated onstage. The best rhythm guitarist by far I'd ever seen live.

And Scott Wieland has come far since I first saw him live in the summer of 1992 with STP at the KROQ weenie roast. With the recent happenings, and a foreboding near future ahead of him, I watched his performance closely. The overriding thing I noticed was that dude was having fun, especially during the STP covers. Watching him perform the old material with zeal, it was easy to picture a STP reunion tour this summer.

Above it all, this is a professional BAND. They had actually gotten BETTER since I'd seen them a mere few months back. The good bands usually possess that trait. A buddy of mine gushed that he was able to score balcony seats to the local Van Halen show here. As I looked forward to VR at the House of Blues I merely laughed at him.

These are five guys who have banded together to form a special supergroup. They remind me of Aerosmith in the old days, before they broke up the first time. Quality hit after quality hit, just hard driving kick ass rock n' roll with a melodic drive. Yet their forte is live performances.

They've written two powerful albums worth of original material, yet can also draw on a virtual library of STP and GNR hits. They are the premier American band. A special band who've put their personal lives, egos, and petulance aside for the betterment of rock n' roll.

The new stuff sounded great. The STP covers were a highlight for Scott, though Mr. Brownstone was downright nasty. Slash busted out the Gibson double-neck for Wish You Were Here. A few personal faves from the arsenal that I'd have loved to hear but they didn't play, and that they would've absolutely killed, were Crackerman, Locomotive, and Headspace. But I suppose there's always a favorite or two left out.

Thanks to Steve: My 4th time to see them...It was the best since June 2004 when Contraband had just been released. Slash's guitar was so clear and crisp! He was just on fire. I loved the Blues Jam they added since the 2007 tour. The crowd went crazy for Wish you were here. The venue was great, and Scott spent the night dancing on the very edge of the show. We had a nice rant from Scott before FTP about how no one buys albums anymore, just downloads singles. I guess he was pissed that Libertad has not sold well. I wish I had the time to just follow them around. The band is tight and the sound is amazing. Long live VR!

Thanks to travis bowers: i was about 3 people back from the stage on the right side slashes side and all i can say is frickin aswome. its a littile hazey as to wich song it was after but they did this blues thing where dave and slash took turns soloing wich was great it rocked all a round
